The Monroe Township Landfill is on the National Priorities List. The 86-acre site is located in Monroe (Middlesex County), New Jersey. Preliminary on-site leachate sample results have identified various volatile organic compounds. They include toluene, vinyl chloride, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, and 1,4-dichlorobenzene. The site is considered to be of public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the likelihood of human exposure to hazardous substances via direct contact.
