Conditions are determined under which single-mode periodic regimes arise, leading to radical tuning of the lasing spectrum (the phenomenon of spectrum condensation), in the assumption of uniform broadening of the gain and absorption lines and a sufficiently broad gain line. The modulation frequency of intensity at the threshold of the periodic regimes is studied, and conditions are given under which this frequency matches experimental spacings between the bichromate components of the condensed spectrum.
