Data on discrete high spin states in {sup 183,184}Pt is presented. In {sup 184}Pt an upbend at a rotational frequency of {Dirac h}{omega} {approx} 0.25 MeV is interpreted as an alignment of two h{sub 9/2} quasiprotons and two {sup i}13/2 quasineutrons occurring at about the same frequency. The structure of the high spin states in {sup 183}Pt, observed for the first time in this experiment, reveal a significant signature splitting in the {nu}{sup i}13/2 band. In this transitional region of nuclei both triaxility and hexadecapole deformations may play a role in affecting the signature splitting.
