Investigation of the nature of the strong metal-support interaction

It has been established with the use of XPS and SIMS that the high-temperature reduction of Rh/TiO/sub 2/ catalysts, after which the SMSI effect is displayed in them, causes a local interaction of Rh with reduced Ti cations accompanied by an increase in the electron density on the clusters of the supported metal.
