New planetary nebulae in the Galactic bulge
Fifteen new PN have been discovered in a 44-sq deg field that includes the Sgr I and Sgr II fields and Baade's Window. The survey was made with both the 4.5-deg and 10-deg objective prisms of hte Curtis Schmidt using IIIa-J and IIIa-F emulsions, respectively. Absolute spectrophotometry, excitation classes, diameters, and radial velocities are given for these new PN. Radial velocities are also given for eight other bulge planetaries. An analysis of the available radial velocities of 147 PN shows good evidence for a rotation of the Galactic bulge. Ionized masses for the new PN are derived from the H-beta fluxes and diameters; it is deduced that the true range in these masses covers a factor of about 50. Their upper limit is probably about 0.3 solar mass; this is consistent with that expected for objects that have evolved from the most massive bulge stars. The consequences of observational selection in this survey are briefly discussed. 75 references.
