Hydrodynamics, mixing, and segregation in gas fluidized beds: Technical progress report for research performed during period 22 July 1986 to 21 October 1986

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6995243

The experimental data on the solids mixing and turbulent correlations, obtained previously using the Computer Aided Particle Tracking Facility (CAPTF) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and partially reported previously, were completed and examined in order to acquire a better understanding of the mechanism of the solids mixing. In addition, correlations of the detector signals during steady-state multi-particle tracking experiments were examined to shed light on the nature of solids motion in the bed. These activities are described in detail in this report and in the appendix. The paper in the appendix, ''Experimental and numerical simulation of solids mixing in a gas-solid fluidized bed,'' has been processed separately for inclusion in the Energy Data Base. 4 figs., 1 tab.
