This article describes calculating heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) performance without the use of an elaborate computer program. In designing HRSG, used in gas-turbine-based cogeneration plants, the following information must be calculated: HRSG steam production in the fired and unfired mode, oxygen content of the exhaust, and fuel consumption. With the simplified procedure described, engineers can obtain the information quickly without consulting HRSG suppliers or using a computer program.
