Hillslope processes

Book ·
OSTI ID:6993193
Hillslopes occupy most of the land surface of the earth. Consequently, they are a major focus of research in geomorphology. Their study is essential not only in order to understand the natural landscape better but also for many practical reasons, such as controlling soil erosion and sedimentation on agricultural lands and mitigating the hazards posed by landslides. Studies within geomorphology owe a considerable debt to and are often closely linked with other disciplines, which include hydrology, pedology, agricultrual engineering, civil engineering, and engineering geology. This volume encompasses contributions from many of these fields.
