Solid compositions for fuel cells, sensors and catalysts
This patent describes the use of a solid material as an electrolyte for a fuel cell or for use as a catalyst, each solid material having a polycrystal or single crystal structure. It comprises: a structure of the formula; A[sub y]B[sub 1 [minus] y]F[sub 2 + y]; wherein: A is independently selected from lanthanum, cerium, neodymium, praseodymium, scandium or mixtures thereof, B is independently selected form strontium, calcium, barium or magnesium and y is between about 0.0001 and 1; a structure of the formula: A[sub y]B[sub 1 [minus] y [minus] z]LiF[sub i + y + z]; a structure of the formula: N[sub 1 [minus] n [minus] m]U[sub n]Ce[sub m]F[sub 2 + 2n + m]; a structure of the formula: LaO[sub 1 [minus] p]F[sub 1 + 2p].
