The Research Triangle Institute (RTI) completed two major surveys for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) Office of Solid Waste: National Survey of Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage, Disposal, and Recycling Facilities (TSDR Survey); and National Survey of Hazardous Waste Generators (Generator Survey). These surveys provide USEPA and other users with data on the generation and management of hazardous waste in the United States. Collected for the calendar year 1986, these data represent the most current data (organized in a comprehensive database) available on the generation and management of hazardous waste in all 50 states, including detailed data on hazardous waste minimization practices.
