The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), one of the five supercomputing centers established by the National Science Foundation, is a joint undertaking of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, along with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. To illustrate the range of computational problems and philosophies that researchers bring to supercomputing, the authors outline a few of the studies currently being undertaken at the PSC.
