Plans to market Rulison gas disclosed
Tentative plans for marketing natural gas from Project Rulison have been outlined to local officials. Colorado Interstate Gas Co. would sell gas to Rocky Mt. Natural Gas for use in its system serving communities to the east. Rulison gas is 5 to 8% of Rocky Mountain's annual requirements. Reserves are set at 6 billion cu ft. The well is to flow at a rate of 1 MMcfd. Cost of the gas was estimated at 40 to 50 cents/Mcf at the wellhead, compared with other alternative supplies of gas available to RMNG costing as much as $1.20/Mcf. At present there are no regulations that directly apply to the sale of natural gas containing main-induced radiation. The AEC will be petitioned to establish rules and regulations related to the transfer and sale of the gas. The map of the area shows how the Rulison gas will be distributed.
