The Murray-Ohio site is listed on the National Priorities List. The approximately 27-acre site, of which approximately six acres contain buried wastes, was an industrial landfill that accepted paint and electroplating sludges from 1963 until 1982. The environmental contamination on-site consists of hexavalent chromium, total chromium, nickel, zinc, lead, and cadmium in soil; and hexavalent chromium, total chromium, nickel, zinc, lead, and cadmium in groundwater. Based on the available information, the site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the possibility of exposure to hazardous substances via contaminated groundwater, sediment, and surface water.
