Dealing with corrosion has evolved from the early days of {und rust and replace} and now corrosion is effectively controlled by continuous chemical injection systems. A critical component of all continuous injection systems is the line. The line serves the purpose of transporting the chemical inhibitor downhole to the packer. Protecting the line during installation as well as its service life requires use of an encapsulation material to ensure integrity of the line and, therefore effectiveness of the entire system. Design criteria for the line and properties or encapsulation materials, including ECTFE fluoropolymer are discussed.
