Statistics: Distributors of TVA power, Fiscal years 1982-1986

Degree-days for the winter of 1985-86 were 12% less than normal and 7% less than the previous winter. Residential average use decreased slightly from 13,606 kWh to 13,476 kWh (the all-time high of 16,251 kWh occurred in fiscal year 1978). Despite the warmer weather, customer load growth caused total sales by the distributors to increase by 2% during fiscal year 1986. Including the effects of the elimination of Power Credits and implementation of the October 2, 1985 Adjustment Addendum, revenue per kWh and power cost per kWh increased by 5%. Operation and maintenance expenses per consumer for all distributors increased 1% in 1986. Operation and maintenance expenses per consumer for the four largest municipalities decreased 1%, while expenses per consumer for the smaller municipalities increased by 3% and for the cooperatives by 2%. On a per-kWh-basis, operating expenses for all distributors increased 1%. The four largest municipalities showed no increase, the smaller municipalities a 3% increase, and the cooperatives a 2% increase.
