There have been new developments since the author's last series on motor-operated valves (MOVs), but valve problems still appear to be the major contributor to plant operating experiences. Improper settings of switches and valves have been responsible for many of the failures and fractures. Responses to the earlier series of columns led to reader feedback, additional papers and meetings, and improved training for maintenance workers. A consultant on valve problems, the author makes his address and phone number available to readers.
