Method and apparatus for reducing the effective bandwidth of ultrasonic waveform for transmission over a logging cable

This patent describes a method of transmitting a waveform over a cable. The cable having a limited bandwidth and the waveform derived from an acoustic return from an ultrasonic logging apparatus operating in a well borehole. Ultrasonic logging apparatus generating an acoustic waveform at periodic intervals of time and receiving a respective acoustic return from the respective generated acoustic waveform, each of the acoustic returns being received in a first portion of the respective time intervals between the generated acoustic waveforms. Said acoustic return has frequencies higher than the cable bandwidth.
