China's big shopping list to test U. S. trade policy

The U.S. trade policy will be tested following the official establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, which plans a $600 billion industrialization and modernization program that will involve 120 projects, including 10 steel mills, 9 nonferrous metal complexes, 10 new oil and gas fields, 8 coal bases, 30 electric power stations, 5 harbors, and 6 trunk railroads. China primarily needs U.S. drilling equipment and technology, particularly for deeper offshore areas, to develop its oil reserves which are about 100 billion bbl.
