Kinetics of compaction of iodosodalite powders with constant rates of heating and constant pressure

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6973675

Results are presented on the kinetics of compaction of iodosodalite powders Na/sub 6/A1/sub 6/Si/sub 6/O/sub 24/.2xNaI, and the effect of the pressure on the nature and rate of compaction of iodosodalite powders is also studied. It is shown that the decrease in the degree of filling of the framework with sodium iodide intensifies the low-temperature compaction mechanism, associated with the destruction of part of the aluminosilicate sodalite framework. Raising the external pressure in investigations on iodosodalite powders activates the elementary mass-transfer mechanisms which give rise to the compaction of the iodosodalite powder at lower temperatures.
