The purpose of the present work was to study the effects occurring during dissolution of platinum under the conditions of operation of hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells with matrix electrolyte. It has been shown that the rate of platinum corrosion in the matrix electrolyte is close to the corrosion rate in free electrolyte. The platinum concentration in the matrix falls from the oxygen to the hydrogen electrode. Reduction of the platinum hexahydroxo complex in the ECGr membrane proceeds mainly by a chemical mechanism.
