A field test scheduled to get underway at Jersey Central Power and Light's Gilbert Power Station in Milford, NJ, promises to provide an important milestone in the application of the new computer based discipline of artificial intelligence to gas turbine operations. Field tests, on the MS7001B combined-cycle installation, will show if computerized trouble shooting can be a better and faster job than experienced maintenance specialists.
