The human impact on the natural environment. Second edition
A text for introductory courses in environmental studies which explains the critical man/land relationships that result in environmental change, hazards, or degradation. Several changes have been made in this new edition. Superfluous detail in text and tables has been removed; there is a fuller explanation of terms connected with the British situation that might be unfamiliar to readers elsewhere; there is a greater emphasis on hazards and degradation in the United States; the bibliographies have been updated; and, ideas and information have been incorporated on such issues as acid rain, nitrate fertilizer pollution, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, anthro-pogenic climate change, genetic diversity and extinction, and conservation.
