Tracer studies of catalytic oxidation by bismuth molybdate--2. propylene reduction of labeled catalysts and catalytic oxidation of propylene

Propylene oxidation over bismuth-molybdenum oxides prepared by solid-state reaction of either oxygen-18 labeled bismuth trioxide with unlabeled molybdenum trioxide or unlabeled bismuth trioxide with labeled molybdenum trioxide showed that the acrolein incorporated lattice oxygen derived from the bismuth layer of the bismuth molybdate, and that the molybdenum layer serves to convert gaseous to lattice oxygen.
