Control device for direct clutch in automatic transmission
This patent describes a vehicle having a vehicular automatic transmission including a fluid torque converter having a pump vane wheel and a turbine vane wheel, a source of working fluid pressure, and a working fluid tank. The vehicle has an auxiliary transmission having stages of gear trains each having a different gear-to-gear speed ratio and being selectively connectable with an output side of the torque converter and hydraulically-operated frictional engagement means each being selectively operable by application thereto of working fluid pressure supplied via corresponding speed ratio-selecting working fluid passages for actuating a corresponding one of the stages of gear trains of the auxiliary transmission. A hydraulically-operated direct clutch selectively mechanically couples together the pump vane wheel and the turbine vane wheel of the torque converter upon application to the direct clutch of working fluid pressure connected to the direct clutch.
