Preliminary imaging and spectroscopy of a newly identified, faint, diffuse object presenting a stellar nucleus, named Podova 1, indicate that it is an early-type spiral galaxy with a low-ionization nuclear emission-line region (LINER) and a low-luminosity Seyfert 1 nucleus. The galaxy, located at l = 43.6 deg and b = +5.3 deg (constellation of Aquila), has a recession velocity cz = 2650 km/s. By means of several methods, the visual extinction in the direction of Padova 1 is estimated, due to Galactic dust amounts to A(v) = 3.5 + or - 1.0 mag. 14 refs.
