Asteroids II; Proceedings of the Conference, Tucson, AZ, Mar. 8-11, 1988
Topics discussed include the exploration of asteroids, their structure and physical properties, origin and evolution, space studies, and tabulation. Papers are presented on CCD photometry of asteroids, radiometry and thermal modeling of asteroids, radar observations of asteroids, and experiments and scaling laws on catastrophic collisions. Attention is given to asteroid results from the IRAS survey, dust bands in the asteroid belt, the identification of asteroid dynamical families, and the physical properties of Aten, Apollo, and Amor. Consideration is also given to the origin of the asteroid belt, the delivery of asteroids and meteorites to the inner solar system, the evolution of comets into asteroids, and asteroid observations with the Hubble Space Telescope and the Space Infrared Telescope Facility. Other papers are on asteroid family identifications and proper elements; the asteroid magnitudes, UBV colors, and IRAS albedos and diameters; and three-parameter asteroid taxonomy classifications.
