Realities of base mapping and contouring using a microcomputer

Conference · · Am. Assoc. Pet. Geol., Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6963024

The proliferation of microcomputer use in business and technical applications has created incentives for developing microcomputer mapping programs. More than 30 programs now provide varying degrees of mapping capabilities on microcomputers. As a result of extensive testing and evaluation of microcomputer mapping programs, a comprehensive list of desirable features has been developed and indicates that only the most expensive programs include all the features. Examples of several inexpensive mapping programs are used to illustrate capabilities. Micro-computer application of mapping programs has its limitations, including program capabilities as well as hardware capabilities.
