Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6959211

This handbook presents methods for applying passive solar heating concepts to the design and construction of buildings in the continental United States. Included are discussions of daylighting, direct gain, radiant panels, thermosiphoning air panels, thermal storage walls, Trombe walls, concrete block walls, water walls, and sunspaces. Figures and tables present data for use in applying these concepts, and worksheets guide the handbook user through the step-by- step procedures. A detailed example demonstrates the application of these solar design concepts in the design of an appropriate system at a specific location. 28 figs., 8 tabs.
