The author reports on the wind energy industry. It is the fastest growing source of renewable energy. This article overviews the economics and efficiencies of the technology. The 25 kW average size wind turbines used at the beginning of the decade now are creeping into the 200 kW range and the cost per kilowatt has plummeted from $3,000 to less than $1,000.
