Effect of modification of nonionic surfactants on their adsorptivity

IR spectroscopy has been used in an investigation of adsorption of nonionic surfactants and modified oxyethylated products, from solution, on aerosil. The influence of modification and the addition of electrolytes on the character of adsorption has been determined. It is concluded that the amount of adsorption of nonionic surfactants is reduced significantly when the electrolytes are present or when the terminal hydroxyl group of the oxyethylated product is substituted.
