The extent of adsorption of 1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene on the surface of glassy carbon and the background electrode charge are found to depend on the method of pretreating the surface of the electrode. The adsorption and the background electrode charge were evaluated by double potential-step chronocoulometry. The adsorption isotherm was typically Langmuirian, and, at monolayer saturation, the amount adsorbed was proportional to the background capacitance.
