This paper discusses the synthesization of tetra-5-bromo-tetra-7-tert-butyl-2,3-napthalocyanine and several of its metal complexes. Spectral and electrochemical studies are carried out. The measured electrochemical oxidation potentials of the complexes show that the introduction of bromine into atoms into 2,3-napthalocyanines increases their resistance to oxidation. The lutetium complex of octa-5-bromo-tert-butyl-di-2,3-naphthaecyanine (II) is also studied.
