In a first-order phase transition two phases can coexist in thermal equilibrium at the critical temperature with a stable interface inbetween. We explore the spectral density reweighting techniques to calculate the bulk free energy barrier {Delta}{ital F} and the surface tension {alpha} associated with this interface. We analyze data from a Monte Carlo simulation on {ital L}{sub {ital t}L}{sup 3} ({ital L}{sub {ital t}}=2,4) lattices for the SU(3) deconfining phase transition. By combining different Monte Carlo simulations with finite-size scaling we establish a procedure to improve the evaluation of {Delta}{ital F}.
