The {sup 3}H{rvec e}({ital {rvec p}},2{ital p}) and {sup 3}H{rvec e}({ital {rvec p}},{ital pn}) knockout reactions were observed in quasielastic kinematics at 290 MeV. Spin observables {ital A}{sub {ital n}0}, {ital A}{sub 0{ital n}}, and {ital A}{sub {ital n}{ital n}} were obtained for both reactions. Calculations using the plane wave impulse approximation (PWIA) and the free nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitudes were performed and compared with the data. The proton knockout data are in qualitative agreement with the calculations which predict {ital A}{sub {ital n}{ital n}} to be sensitive to the presence of mixed-symmetry {ital S}{prime} components in the {sup 3}He wave function. Proton spins are expected to be exactly paired at momenta {ital q}{approx}80 MeV/{ital c}, in agreement with the {ital A}{sub {ital n}{ital n}} data. Spin observables {ital A}{sub 0{ital n}} and {ital A}{sub {ital n}{ital n}} for the {sup 3}H{rvec e}({ital {rvec p}},{ital pn}) reaction deviate significantly from the PWIA predictions. The qualitative differences between proton and neutron knockout results may be caused by final-state interaction effects.
