Examination and performance testing of nuclear power plant dynamic restraints (snubbers)
This standard establishes general requirements for periodic examination and testing of nuclear power plant equipment dynamic restraints (snubbers) from preservice inspection through the life of the plant. This standard establishes inservice inspection intervals, criteria, and data requirements. This Standard is applicable to snubbers which effect a function described in the plant Safety Analysis Report. It is applicable to snubbers whose malfunction, as described by the owner, would significantly increase the probability of occurrence or the consequences of an accident or the malfunction of equipment important to safety. Certain snubbers, as defined above, may be exempted, in part or totally on a case-by-case basis, from the provisions of this Standard if justified by the owner and accepted by the regulatory authority having jurisdiction over the factility.
