Excitation of electromagnetic radiation is considered when a wave in a magnetized plasma interacts nonlinearly with charge density waves in a relativistic electron beam. The radiation is assumed to propagate parallel to the beam, i.e., the plasma wave frequency is multiplied by the usual relativistic factor. It is shown that two processes are responsible for stimulated emission: scattering of the plasma wave by the beam electrons, and scattering of the space charge waves in the beam by the plasma electrons. The instability growth rates and efficiency for conversion of power into radiation are calculated for several extreme cases.
