In this paper, a new static correction using inverse modeling of first break is recommended. It is based on the least square of the difference between the real reflection first break time and corresponding modeled ray-tracing travel time. The initial model derives from priori informations or traditional interpretation results. The preconditioned fastest descent means in inversion achieves simultaneous inversions of overlying-bed velocity and refractor depth. This method has been successfully used to yield theoretical seismic data and to perform static correction of the seismic data in A district.
