The objective of this study is to determine dose rates for various organs of a human standing on a plane uniformly contaminated with gamma-emitting isotopes. The calculation was performed using the computer program QAD-CGGP, a code that can be run on a mainframe, a minicomputer, or a personal computer. The QAD-CGGP is a point kernel code using gamma-ray buildup factors based on the geometric progression (GP) form adopted by the ANS-6.4.3 Standards Committee. These buildup factors extend from 0.015 to 15 MeV and up to 40 mfp. The problem studied is represented by combinatorial geometry based on the program PICTURE (used by the MORSE code), which allows an extremely accurate representation of any situation. In this case, a human was modeled with dimensions and masses of the critical organs taken from the standard individual, as prescribed by the International Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements.
