This is a retrospective evaluation of 17 patients with diagnosis of ovarian dysgerminoma who were treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals from January 1938, to December 1976. Not a single patient was lost to follow-up.The majority of patients were between 11 to 30 years old. Seven patients died with disease, 3 during the 1st year, 3 during the 2nd year and 1 during the 4th year after diagnosis. In this series we have 10 patients with no evidence of disease (NED). The duration of follow-up of that group is from 51 months to 444 months with a median of 102 months. Postoperative radiation therapy is a valuable adjuvant to surgical treatment for dysgerminoma.
