A method has been developed for the determination of radium in natural waters, based on its preliminary concentration by coprecipitation with barium sulfate and subsequent thermal separation of the radon directly from the concentrate over a period of 1 h at 1250/sup 0/C. The separated radon is analyzed using an SAS-R-2 emanometer. The sensitivity threshold of the method is 1.10/sup -13/ g/liter, enabling radium to be determined in most natural waters.
