Use of grade-T coals as reducing agents in the production of ferroalloys

Grade-T coals from the Krasnobrodskii and Krasnogorskii Pits were investigated, together with such well-known reducing agents as coke nuts and Angarsk semicoke. The ultimate composition, pyrolysis-gas yield and composition, reactivity with respect to CO/sub 2/ and SiO, and resistivity were studied; it was shown that it is feasible and expedient in technical-economic terms to use these coals as substitutes for coke in the production of carbon ferroalloys by the slag process.
