Elastic-plastic deformation of geopressured reservoir rock

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6935607
Cyclical triaxial loading tests conducted on the Gladys McCall sandstone show that the material exhibits an elastic-plastic deformation behavior. A damage mechanics model and a small strain plasticity model may be used to describe the materials compaction. Ultimate strengths of this material at various confining pressures and pore pressures were measured in order to determine a failure surface in effective stress space. The effects of confining pressure and pore pressure on the mechanical properties of the material may be determined from the triaxial test results. 12 refs.
