Charmless B meson decays at CLEO

We have measured the lepton momentum spectra in semileptonic {ital B} meson decays using data taken with the CLEO detector at CESR. We find an excess of leptons in the region above that kinematically allowed for decays containing charm. Ascribing these leptons to charmless semileptonic decays yields {vert bar}{ital V}{sub {ital u}{ital b}}/{ital V}{sub {ital c}{ital b}}{vert bar} of approximately 0.1.
