The author addresses the problem of paraffin deposition. It occurs almost everywhere crude oil and natural gas are produced, and in virtually every facet of production. Paraffin deposits are typically linear hydrocarbon chains in a mixture with branched hydrocarbons, oil, organics, water, and inorganics (rust, sand, iron sulfide, etc...). Methods of deposit removal are outlined, focussing on chemical prevention programs. Case histories are presented.
