Qualitative comparison of TATB and PBX 9404 behavior when preheated and ignited under confinement
The results of experiments are presented in which TATB (X-0219) and PBX 9404 specimens were heated and then ignited by a resistance heating element. The insensitive TATB did not detonate and ceased to burn when the heating element was turned off whereas the PBX 9404 appeared to undergo a high order detonation.
