A new phase in the Sr-Pb-Cu oxide system: The crystal structure of Sr sub 5-x Pb sub 3+x Cu sub y O sub 12-. delta

A single crystal with compositions Sr{sub 4.79}Pb{sub 3.21}Cu{sub 0.66}O{sub 11.12} was grown from a reaction mixture of nominal composition 2 Pb: 1 Sr: 1 Cu that was fired at 860{degree}C in air. M{sub r} = 1304.6, hexagonal, P{bar 6}2m, a = 10.072(3) {angstrom}, c = 3.542(3) {angstrom}, V = 311.2(4) {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z = 1, Dx = 6.96 g cm{sup {minus}3}, {lambda} = 0.71069 {angstrom}, {mu} = 645 cm{sup {minus}1}, F(000) = 553.34, room temperature, R = 0.040 for 323 unique reflections > 5{sigma} (F{sub 0}).
