On the basis of a first analysis, the authors constructed a section FeCr/sub 2/O/sub 4/SiO/sub 2/ in the system FeO-Cr/sub 2/O/sub 3/-SiO/sub 2/, and it is possible to establish the region of possible concentrations of components. The presence of a significant region of liquation in the pseudobinary system FeCr/sub 2/O/sub 4/-SiO/sub 2/ and the low solubility of the chromite in the highly siliceous glass creates the prerequisites for a sharp reduction in the penetration of melt into the refractory, which contributes to an increase in the quality and reliability of the lining.
