Fundamentals of environmental chemistry
- Missouri Univ., Columbia, MO (United States)
This book is designed to be understandable and interesting without being overly simplistic. Topics addressed include an overview of basic chemistry; matter and the basis of its physical nature and behavior; organic chemistry; biological chemistry; the chemistry of water, soil, and air; industrial chemistry; toxicological chemistry as it pertains to occupational health and human exposure to pollutants and toxicants; energy; and nuclear energy; nuclear waste, and applications of nuclear science in areas such as tracing pesticide degradation, nuclear medicine, and nuclear wastes. Analytical chemistry and analytical instrumentation as applied to environmental chemical analysis and occupational health monitoring are introduced. The book's appendices provide basic coverage of the fundamentals of mathematics and computations required for chemistry, in addition to listings of important chemicals and their properties.
