Discussed is the structure of an alkaline secondary cell utilizing the positive manganese dioxide-carbon electrode negative zinc electrode system with modified internal zinc electrode construction and novel separator arrangements between the negative and positive compartments of the cell as a result of which the cell is capable of large output capacity as compared with a primary cell utilizing the same system and which secondary cell is rechargeable many times in manner similar to storage cells. Also includes an assembly process for the manufacture of such rechargeable alkaline secondary cells.
