Energy Secretary Donald Paul Hodel was the principal witness at a hearing which reviewed the status of US energy security. Areas of progress included reaching six-month level of supply in the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR), a reduction in the level of dependency on imported oil, and an improved climate for energy conservation and technology investments. Hodel reviewed the current energy status, emphasizing the reduced vulnerability. Additional material submitted by Hodel for the record follows his testimony.
