Energy Secretary Donald Paul Hodel was the principal witness at a hearing which reviewed the status of US energy security. Areas of progress included reaching six-month level of supply in the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR), a reduction in the level of dependency on imported oil, and an improved climate for energy conservation and technology investments.
